Four GEC students--Krissy and Katie Welch, Nicole Steele, and Ed Owens--are playing for UM-Flint's newest sports team: Ultimate Frisbee!
From the UM-Flint website:
The secret is out; the University of Michigan-Flint has an Ultimate team. In fact, more than 20 students meet three or four times a week to practice. Ultimate or Ultimate Frisbee as it is also called, is a team sport growing in popularity on college campuses across the country.
The UM-Flint team formed more than a year ago, and has already traveled to three tournaments that included teams from MSU, U-M, Central and other colleges from across the country. While many colleges have a team, it is not a varsity sport, but it is coed. To give you an idea of how big the sport is the young UM-Flint team is ranked 480 under the Ultimate Players Association (UPA) rankings.Recently, the team competed in a tournament hosted by Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. They played against Ohio State, Michigan State, and the National Team from Columbia, South America. They won their game against the University of Ohio.
The team will play an indoor tournament at UM-Flint on December 8th. Come out and cheer 'em on!
